Initially all Loco's was produced with Full Green Ends but an alarming numbers of staff fatalities started to happen. 1962 all loco's were recalled and had the Half Yellow Panels painted in an attempt to stop this happening whilst this did cut down fatalities it was decided to paint the Ends of Loco's to Full Yellow Ends between 1962-65 so that is why you see ALL BR Loco's having this type of ends. From 1965 BR introduced there Corporate BR Blue Livery with standard Full Yellow Ends with the odd exceptions of a Small Yellow Panel. 1974 and introduction of TOPS saw all Loco's given a 5 digit number starting with the class (45) the 1st two numbers the Class. The Class 45 was one of the classes that you could not convert the original number to it previous D number apart from the class 44 this was a nightmare for spotters, at this same period the start of withdrawal of Headcode identification Numbers which was used for staff to identify the train that was passing them. This became 0OOO for a sort period followed by the fitting of Domino Dots in the Blinds then clear circles on a Black background on the glass of the Headcode. 1982 saw the introduction of Headlights as Loco's went through the works with Sealed Beam Marker Lights before the compulsory standard of all Loco's & units must be fitted with a permanent Headlight
